Tbilisi ranks 112th among “smart cities”

For two years now, New York has been named as the “smartest city” in the world. According to IESE Cities in Motion Index, New York is followed by London and Paris.

The ranking analyses 164 cities of 80 countries of the world based on the following indicators: human capital (consensus between various groups living in the city); economic development, transport and environmental development, urban planning.

London’s best results were in the human capital category, the reason for which is the number of prestigious universities and centers in the city. Advancement of Paris was caused by a well-developed transport system – namely underground and bicycle lanes fit for the population.

The best results of Tbilisi was in the environment criterion – 39th position and the worst – urban planning – 130th position. In the criterion of the economy, the city holds 104th position, human capital – 125th and technologies – 108th positions.

The last positions in the region are held by cities in Pakistan, Nigeria, and India.
