Lead: amounts spent by Georgians abroad increase dramatically.
In the first half of the year, Georgian’s spent abroad 791 498 000 GEL, which is 37.3% (496 781 000 GEL) more than in the similar period last year. The above amount includes ATM, POS-terminal and internet transactions.
The biggest amount was spent by Georgian visitors abroad in May – 146.3 mln GEL. This is a record amount for 2018, as well as for the data of the National Bank of Georgia of the last decade.
The number of internet transactions also increased and in the first 6 months of the year, the amount exceeded 1.1 bln GEL. The record was registered in June – both within the country and abroad, internet transactions worth of 228.6 mln GEL were conducted.
