People have long seen tattoos as symbols of freedom, personal milestones, or cultural traditions. For decades, modest tattoo parlors often tucked themselves away in urban corners, catering to a niche clientele.

But Kayhan Kiani, the founder of the tattoo company INK’D London, is challenging this perception. He envisions tattoos not as mere body art but as a luxury tattoo experience—a million-dollar business that balances craftsmanship with exclusivity. Through INK’D London, Kiani is changing the $2 billion global tattoo market into a sophisticated activity where art meets high fashion.

Going for Luxury in Tattoo Experience

Walking into INK’D London is like stepping into a designer boutique. The studio’s sleek interiors exude elegance, with polished floors, curated artwork, and an ambiance that feels more like a high-end gallery than a traditional tattoo shop. This intentional design reflects Kiani’s vision of creating a premium, luxury tattoo experience for his clients.

“Imagine walking into a Louis Vuitton boutique or a Dior atelier,” Kiani explains. “You feel welcomed, understood, and surrounded by luxury. That is exactly what I wanted to replicate in the tattoo world.”

At INK’D London, every detail is crafted to make clients feel special. From the moment they step through the doors, they are greeted warmly by staff who prioritize comfort and professionalism. Like walking into luxury stores, clients are cared for with an ambiance that immediately sets the tone for exclusivity and sophistication.

Self-Expression as the True Luxury

Kiani believes that aside from elegant feels, the true luxury of tattoos lies in uniqueness and exclusivity, qualities in his vision for INK’D London. For him, tattoos are not just decorative art but deeply personal expressions of individuality. Each tells a story as unique as the person wearing it. At INK’D London, a team of skilled tattoo artists brings this philosophy to life, transforming clients’ ideas into bespoke masterpieces.

In an interview with GQ, Kiani mentioned that he believes tattoos are an extension of personal style, no different from wearing a Gucci suit or carrying a Dior bag. He emphasizes the mission of INK’D London to help clients express themselves with art they will cherish for life.

“Tattoos are the ultimate luxury in self-expression,” Kiani explains. “By treating each tattoo as a one-of-a-kind piece, INK’D London elevates body art into a sought-after luxury experience, redefining what it means to wear your story on your skin.”

Kiani has integrated advanced technology into the tattoo process to further enhance this personalized process. Clients can use state-of-the-art tools to preview their designs on their skin before committing, giving them greater control and confidence in their choices.

“We want our clients to feel like they’re part of the creative process. We empower them to change, add, or adjust to verify that the tattoo perfectly aligns with their vision, just like how they want it,” Kiani mentions.

Bringing the Luxury Tattoo Experience Into New Markets

While many tattoo studios operate within local communities, Kiani has set his sights on global expansion. His vision for INK’D London extends beyond the borders of the United Kingdom, with plans to open studios in regions that have yet to experience this level of luxury tattoo service, such as the Middle East.

“Dubai is a hub for luxury and cultural fusion—the perfect place for INK’D to expand,” Kiani shares. He believes that as global attitudes toward tattoos evolve, there is immense potential for growth in markets like Dubai.

“I see a future where tattoos in Dubai are celebrated alongside the city’s designer boutiques and galleries,” he notes. “INK’D Dubai will set the standard, offering the same luxury and professionalism we’ve established in London.”

Kiani aims to introduce his luxury brand to diverse audiences while breaking stereotypes about tattoos by entering new markets. His goal is to expand his business and shift cultural perceptions of body art, positioning tattoos as celebrated forms of self-expression at the same level as high fashion.

From Niche Shops to Billion-Dollar Potential

Kiani’s journey from a refugee in the U.K. to a billion-dollar entrepreneur highlights his resilience and innovative spirit. Since INK’D London’s launch in 2018, his vision for building the tattoo brand has been beyond creating beautiful tattoos but transforming an industry traditionally seen as a niche into one with million-dollar potential.

Kiani mentions, “Tattoos tell a story. Over the years, body art has moved from being a niche subculture to becoming a fashion statement embraced by everyone—from CEOs to celebrities. We aim to be their partner in self-expression through body art.”

INK’D London has elevated tattoos from underground symbols into sophisticated expressions of individuality. Kiani’s vision proves that with creativity and determination, even traditional industries can be reimagined into extraordinary things.
