TBC Group at the Financial Times Global Banking Summit Panel

TBC has become the first Georgian bank to be invited to the Financial Times Global Banking Summit in London. George Tkhelidze, Deputy CEO of TBC Bank, participated as a speaker on the main stage panel discussion, which focused on the transformation of the banking sector by 2030.

The annual event, held in London, brings together over 1,000 leaders from around the world. The Global Banking Summit convenes bank executives, technology companies, analysts, and regulators to discuss key trends and opportunities shaping the global financial sector.

Alongside George Tkhelidze, the panel featured the Managing Director of Retail Banking at Lloyds, one of the UK’s leading commercial banks, as well as representatives from the Swiss technology company Temenos and the UK-based software company Encompass.

“Financial Times expressed interest in TBC Group’s success, which has been driven by the early adoption of advanced technologies in both Georgia and Uzbekistan. TBC was the first to introduce internet banking in Georgia back in 2001. Since then, the group has continued to grow by integrating technology and innovation. Our experience in Georgia laid a strong foundation for establishing the first fully digital bank in Uzbekistan, which today serves 22 million customers and has 6 million monthly active users.

During the forum, we emphasized technological development: 70% of TBC customers already interact with the bank through digital channels, and 95% of all transactions are completed electronically. We process 1 million monthly interactions through AI agents, covering 50% of customer inquiries.

We are currently working to further enhance our AI tools. More than 70 processes within the bank are already automated, accelerating business operations and improving customer experience. Our goal is to equip bankers with more data-driven insights for personalized service, while deploying AI interactions more efficiently in areas where human involvement is not required.

I am proud that the Financial Times spotlighted Georgia and TBC Group, giving us the opportunity to share our experience with an international audience,” – George Tkhelidze, Deputy CEO of TBC.
