Dr. Flam has distinguished himself through a remarkable 40-year career in hematology and oncology, most recently serving as president of the Hematology and Oncology Medical Group of Fresno until his retirement in 2024. As a fellow of the American College of Physicians and former board member of the Association of Northern California Oncologists, Dr. Flam has maintained prestigious professional affiliations throughout his career.
Dr. Flam served in the military as a major and chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the U.S. Air Force Regional Hospital, Sheppard Air Force Base. He also served as a medical consultant to NASA’s Project Skylab.

“Each presentation of my work is an opportunity to demonstrate how education and entertainment can work together,” notes Dr. Flam, who conducts one-hour presentations showcasing his 33 categories of limericks at major book fairs across the country, including at the Chicago and Miami Book Fairs.
Accomplished Author and Performer Bridges Science and Arts Through Innovation
Dr. Flam’s academic foundation includes a bachelor’s degree in life sciences and molecular biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University. His extensive postgraduate training encompasses fellowships at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the University of Utah.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Flam maintains strong family connections as the father of five accomplished daughters including a psychologist, an internist and an educator in Paris. He resides in both Fresno, California, and Sun Valley, Idaho, with his wife, a retired pediatrician from Chile. Together they have explored over 40 countries while maintaining their commitment to education and community service.
