Professional Path in Educational Excellence

Dr. Busk chose education after discovering a passion for teaching adults during graduate school. She thrived in higher education, mentoring diverse groups of students. Dr. Busk held positions as assistant professor at Michigan State University and spent more than 10 years as a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Education.

Dr. Busk earned a Doctor of Philosophy in quantitative methods in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1976, a Master of Arts in statistics from The Catholic University of America and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) in 1966.

Dr. Busk developed a deeper interest in educational statistics through four years of research at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, studying various educational interventions.

Building Educational Connections Through Technology

Dr. Busk advocates for human connection and personal perspective in modern academia. She balances technological tools with personal mentorship, focusing on individual growth alongside community development. Dr. Busk lives by the motto “more of a doer than a receiver” through participation in the American Statistical Association, American Educational Research Association and National Council of Measurement in Education.

Dr. Busk serves the community through volunteer work with Project Open Hand and Saint Aidan’s Episcopal Church. The University of San Francisco has honored Dr. Busk with teaching awards, alumni association recognition and a mentoring and service award.

Dr. Busk plans to continue supporting current and future students in their educational pursuits. She has been creating new teaching methods that blend technology with critical thinking and personal guidance. Dr. Busk credits her success to her colleagues and spouse, highlighting the team spirit that marks the professional journey.

Dr. Busk pursues birding and horticulture in personal time, activities that mirror the professional dedication to growth and development in others.
