Rebut Aims to Lead a Debate Renaissance Online

New AI-powered platform gives Gen-Z and beyond a place to engage in structured video debates, breaking social bubbles and fueling critical thinking.

Debate has always been a cornerstone of progress. From the Athenian agora to the university lecture hall, societies have advanced through structured argumentation. But in today’s digital world, social media rewards outrage, not arguments and the result is the creation of social bubbles.

Rebut, a new platform preparing for beta launch later this year, aims to change that. Built as civil media, Rebut provides structured video debates where participants share a level playing field and equal opportunities to be heard. Instead of following personalities, users follow topics. Instead of scrolling endlessly, they engage with arguments. Instead of propaganda, they encounter perspectives.

“Debate can be powerful when opponents engage with arguments instead of hate speech,” said Mikheil Janelidze, Founder Rebut / Ex-Foreign Minister of Georgia. “Rebut isn’t about removing disagreement. It’s about turning disagreement into progress.”

Why Now?

Gen-Z is the most connected generation in history and yet the most concerned about misinformation, fragmentation, and online bubbles. They are also the most willing and able to push back. Rebut is starting with universities and debate clubs, empowering students to build skills for constructive debate while connecting with peers worldwide.

A classroom debate in New York can now be shared globally, with students in Tbilisi or Berlin contributing directly not because they already agree, but because their differing views spark constructive discourse.

Beyond education, Rebut is also designed for media outlets, businesses, sports communities, and civic groups, giving them tools to host meaningful debates on issues that matter from new products to cultural events and public policy.

How It Works

At the core of Rebut is a proprietary algorithm that breaks echo chambers. Unlike traditional social media, it is designed to connect people with opposing views and build debate threads instead of bubbles.

Rebut offers three main features:

  • Live Arenas for structured video debates with clear rules, neutral moderation, and audience interaction.
  • Debate Feed for asynchronous video debate threads, enabling participation anytime, anywhere.
  • Tournaments where students and young professionals compete globally, sharpening debate and public speaking skills while building reputation.

What’s Next

Rebut is preparing for its beta launch later this year and is currently seeking students, debate clubs, partners, and investors to join its mission of building a culture of online debate.
