In a world where tradition often collides with progress, Vatsal Soin emerges as a vanguard of innovation. His 2025 invention, the Dynamic Fit Index (DFI), is not just a technological marvel—it is a clarion call to the global footwear industry to evolve or perish.
Soin filed key utility patents in January 2025 in the PCT, US, and India, marking the latest milestone in a portfolio that includes 12 strategic filings and 2 prestigious grants in Japan and India. Spanning six continents, Soin has charted an audacious path to redefine footwear, offering a precision fit for billions of consumers worldwide.
Vatsal Soin’s journey is rooted in a four-generation legacy of leather and footwear, infused with his academic prowess from NTU Singapore, RMIT Australia, and Stanford University USA. This fusion of tradition and innovation allows him to challenge conventions while respecting the industry’s rich heritage.
Rewriting the Rules for a Multi-Billion-Dollar Industry
For decades, the footwear industry has been shackled by static size charts such as EU, US, UK and Mondopoint offering one-size-fits-none solutions. Enter DFI, a paradigm-shifting technology that obliterates the old rules. Combining customizable modular footwear with DFI’s AI-powered precision, this breakthrough delivers a fusion of tailored comfort, unrivalled stability, and timeless elegance. Soin has built a system that caters to every step, every occasion, and every individual. “Prosaicness in footwear, where nearly everyone is a user, ends here,” Soin declares.
The Atelier of the Future
“Picture this,” Soin explains, “a bespoke atelier where AR/AI-powered platforms scan your feet with millimeter precision, replacing outdated size charts with hyper-personalized recommendations. Soon, billions of smartphone users shopping online will access similar technology through a mobile application, making size charts, still based on barleycorn-like increments, a relic of the past.”
“Just to give a glimpse a UK 8 with a 265mm foot length, medium arch and wide-width becomes Base + 2H + 3W. This tailored fit adds say 2 mm of height for the medium arch (2H) and 3 mm of width for wide-width feet (3W). By combining DFI with innovative modular features—such as interchangeable strips, adjustable uppers, and variable insoles—it sculpts a shoe that provides a perfect fit, previously unattainable. Creating an ecosystem where luxury blends with affordability.” explains Soin.
“DFI together with modular features, redefines the anatomy of footwear,” says Soin. The Upper Skin, Sole, Interchangeable Strips, Insole, and other innovative components transform the footwear experience, enabling endless possibilities including, but not limited to fashion, medical support, enhanced traction, and aerodynamics. Additionally, the patented L-shaped mold introduces a range of angular adjustments, ensuring unparalleled comfort and personalized fit for every wearer.
Sustainable Footwear: Redefining Responsibility
The footwear industry’s waste problem finds a solution in Soin’s modular system, which reduces waste by up to 15% and extends shoe lifespan by 20–30%. By enabling easy replacement of worn parts, DFI together with innovative modular system combines durability and eco-conscious innovation, seamlessly aligning luxury with sustainability.
This innovation can reduce material waste, streamline production, and minimize returns, offering a significant return on investment for stakeholders eager to differentiate themselves and maximize profitability.
A Strategic Vision for Global Adoption
The DFI ensures a seamless transition, starting with simple enhancements like AR/AI-powered foot scanning and modular adjustments integrated into existing lines, retrofitting seamlessly into current production setups. Gradually, detachable components and fully customizable modular systems can be introduced enhancing product value and consumer satisfaction. This approach guarantees immediate revenue growth while future-proofing operations, allowing a smooth evolution towards a cutting-edge footwear ecosystem with minimal disruption to existing processes.
The Walk Ahead
“Innovation isn’t about formal training—it’s about observing problems from every angle and creating meaningful solutions,” Soin concludes with conviction. “Let’s break the mold and walk together into a future world where perfect fit and comfort blend in every step.”
