Cargo Turnover in Georgian Corridor Decreased by 0.4 Million Tones In 2018

The amount of cargo transported to Georgia by conveyance departments has gone down by 0.4 million tones in comparison to 2017, amounting to 4.1 million tones in total. In the last five years, the turnover of goods in Georgia has decreased by a total of 5.3 million tones. The volume of the cargo processed in the sea ports and terminals has also gone down. For instance, this year the ports processed 15.1 million tones which is down from the 2017 indicator by 1.2 million tones and 5.2 million tones behind the indicator from 2014.

Last year, the amount of the containers processed in the ports had grown and reached 453,938 TEU units. However, these numbers were still lower than the numbers from 2014.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Economy, last year there was a reduction in the volume of processed goods in all four ports and harbors of Georgia.
