The honor acknowledges professionals based on current reference value, position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in their field.
Ms. Broderick is president and founder of Pink Ladies Construction Co., Inc., which gained recognition as one of the first female-owned and operated construction companies in the United States. Her firm specializes in private residential and commercial interior design and construction projects, with particular emphasis on interior design specification and construction project management. She holds multiple professional licenses and designations including a B-1 General Contractor’s License, ASID Design Credentials, Insurance License, and CCID #008.
Her distinguished career began in 1975 when she started providing construction management and design services for diverse clientele ranging from Care Cottages for the Homeless to medium-scale commercial projects and high-end residential developments. By 1996, her firm achieved $3 million in gross receipts, demonstrating the success of her unique approach combining interior design expertise with construction management capabilities.
Ms. Broderick’s extensive advisory experience includes several high-profile appointments. From 1985 until 1990, she served as court appointed advisor to the Century Freeway I-105 Project by the Honorable Judge Harry Pregerson, where she chaired the Women’s Implementation Plan and Goals Committee as a member of the Century Freeway Advisory Board under the Department of Transportation, Cal-Trans.
Her state-level service included appointment by Senator David Roberti to the Small Business Advisory Board for the State of California between 1991 and 1995, where she served as commissioner focusing on the Insurance Sub-Committee and played a valuable role in workers compensation reform. She also served on the Senate Select Committee Northridge Earthquake Task Force, contributing to the Insurance, and Building and Structures Committees.
At the municipal level, Mayor Richard Riordan appointed Ms. Broderick as commissioner for the Department of Building and Safety from 1992 to 1997, during which time her service culminated as vice president of the Disabled Access Appeals Board. Following her relocation to Rancho Mirage, the city council appointed her as commissioner of housing for the City of Rancho Mirage.
“I am really good at politics,” Ms. Broderick said. “My goal is to find an advisory board position in these areas.”
Ms. Broderick’s pioneering efforts in workforce development gained national attention when she established a training school for women in construction from 1982 to 1985, funded exclusively through grants awarded by the County of Los Angeles. This groundbreaking program became the subject of numerous television, radio and newspaper articles, including features in the Los Angeles Times under the headline “Pink Ladies.”
Her interior design credentials include past chairman of the board and past president of the International Society of Interior Designers, San Fernando Valley chapter. Her design work has encompassed commercial projects including tenant improvements, restaurants, and a billiard parlor, while her residential portfolio includes high-end projects and historic preservation work.
“Historic Preservation is another area that I excel in,” Ms. Broderick noted. “That’s another passion of mine because I really loved working on historic buildings.”
Her commitment to historic preservation led Pink Ladies Construction Company to achieve the designation of Los Angeles Cultural Historic Monument #293, “The Magnolia” mansion, showcasing her design talents while providing preservation services to the community.
Ms. Broderick’s media presence has been extensive, with personal appearances on programs including Merv Griffin, Hour Magazine, Two On The Town, Eye on L.A., and “Home” Show. Her expertise has been featured in publications including Designers West, “US” Magazine, L.A. Times, Daily News, Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post and Entrepreneur Magazine.
Her success stems from what she describes as boundless energy and unwavering belief in her ability to achieve her goals. Without a formal mentor, she developed her own system of planning and goal-setting, teaching herself skills such as grant writing when faced with unfamiliar challenges.
“Because I did not have a mentor, it did not stop me from having meetings with myself,” she explained. “I would sit down and make notes. I would think of things that I would like to do and the process of how to get there.”
Ms. Broderick has received commendations from the Los Angeles City Council, Mayor Tom Bradley, Senator Ed Davis, Senator William Campbell, Assemblywoman Marion La Follette, Supervisor Mike Antonovich, Supervisor Peter Schabarum, and Cal Trans – Century Freeway, recognizing her contributions across multiple sectors.
The construction and interior design industries continue to benefit from professionals like Ms. Broderick who have worked to increase diversity and create pathways for underrepresented groups. Her multifaceted career demonstrates the value of combining technical expertise with advisory leadership in policy development and implementation.
Ms. Broderick’s recognition by Marquis Who’s Who reflects her sustained contributions as a construction management and interior design professional and her ongoing commitment to excellence in advisory services.
