Georgia representative joins EBAN Board

For the first time ever, a Georgia representative has taken a board seat at the EBAN (European Business Angels Network), the pan-European network of early stage investors.

Co-founder of Axel, the Georgian Business Angel Network, Guri Koiava, was elected as an EBAN board member for a 2-year term. This was announced during the European Angel Investment Summit in Brussels last month.

It is expected that this will further promote and develop angel investing in Georgia and will integrate Axel with the European business angel networks, their dealflows, policies, and experience sharing programs.

“This is a great opportunity to put a spotlight on our country in the European early-stage investor community. Axel will continue connecting Georgian and foreign angel investor communities and facilitating cross-border investments,” says Guri Koiava.

“EBAN is glad to welcome Guri Koiava, representing Axel – the Georgian Business Angel Network, in our Board of Directors! Georgia is an essential part of our community and we look forward to participating in the advancement of angel investing in the country as well as building bridges between Georgia and the rest of our members in Europe and beyond,” says Jacopo Losso, the Director of Secretariat of EBAN.

Axel is the largest angel investor network in Georgia. Established in June 2021, the network already unites over 70 members from Georgia and other European countries, and aims to accelerate the development of Georgia’s tech startup ecosystem by facilitating Smart Money investments in the most promising Georgian entrepreneurs. Axel has been an EBAN member since December 2021.

EBAN is the pan-European representative for the early stage investor community gathering over 100 member organizations in more than 50 countries today. It represents a sector estimated to invest 11.4 billion Euros a year and playing a vital role in Europe’s future, notably in the funding of SMEs.
