From her roots in a middle-class community in India to becoming a first-generation college graduate and a multifaceted entrepreneur, Dr. Patel’s story testifies resilience, passion, and a commitment to empowering others.
Today, Dr. Patel leads several ventures under the KGS ventures, including KGS Foundation Service For All, KGS Business Consultants, and KGS Education Services. She has also introduced after-school STEM programs in Colorado, helping students prepare for a technology-driven future. She also co-founded IPPY Dippy, an innovative professional development platform for educators.
According to Dr. Patel, her initiatives within KGS Ventures share a mission: creating pathways for individuals and communities to thrive. Her life’s work reflects her dedication to shaping a better future through education, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
Back to Where It All Began: From India to Iowa
Dr. Dimple Patel’s story began in India, where her parents instilled in her the values of resilience, integrity, and compassion. “Much of the life wisdom I carry today comes from my mother and grandmother,” she reflects. “Their guidance taught me to approach life’s challenges with patience and perseverance.”
Dr. Patel’s family later immigrated to Algona, Iowa, where she embraced new opportunities and challenges. Guided by her parents’ teachings of resilience and hard work, she was determined to make the most of every opportunity in the U.S.
She pursued an undergraduate degree in accounting and finance at Iowa State University and a Master’s in Business Management from Kaplan University. However, her passion for educational leadership took root during her doctoral studies at Washington State University.
Dr. Patel shares, “My journey in education is deeply personal. I understand the power of education to break generational cycles and empower individuals. This led me to my goal of being part of that transformation, especially for those from underserved backgrounds.”
The Birth of KGS Ventures: Education, Entrepreneurship, and Philanthropy
Dr. Dimple Patel’s commitment to STEM education began in 2013 with STEM summer camps and curriculum development, creating engaging learning experiences for young students. Building on this foundation, she expanded her efforts two years ago to bring after-school robotics and coding programs to Colorado schools through her franchise with Wize Computing Academy.
Dr. Patel values her role in making STEM accessible and admires the work of companies like Snapology, Code Ninja, and iCode, which share her vision of inspiring young learners through hands-on, tech-driven learning opportunities.
“Companies that teach robotics and coding are paving the way for a tech-ready future,” Dr. Patel explains. “Their work is vital in preparing our next generation for a world driven by technology and innovation.”
Her hands-on experience designing and leading STEM programs during her doctoral studies under the mentorship of Dr. LoAnn Ayers further deepened her understanding of effective STEM education. Robotics and coding programs, she notes, emphasize hands-on learning where students build, create, and explore real-world applications of technical skills. This environment fosters innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving—skills essential in today’s technology-driven world.
KGS STEM Kits: Simplifying STEM Education Worldwide
With KGS Education Services, Dr. Dimple Patel took her vision further, launching pre-packaged STEM kits six months ago to support schools in providing engaging STEM experiences. Each kit includes 30 hours of curriculum covering subjects like history, science, and literacy, all integrated with STEM principles.
Dr. Patel’s mentors, Dr. Michele Acker-Hocevar, Dr. Judy Morrison, and Dr. Vijay Kumar, shaped her commitment to effective STEM education, and this foundation inspired the creation of the KGS STEM kits.
“Our goal is to simplify STEM education while making sure it is engaging and impactful. These kits allow students worldwide to explore STEM across diverse subjects in a practical, turnkey way,” Dr. Patel explains.
KGS Business Consultants: Empowering Entrepreneurs
Four months ago, Dr. Patel launched KGS Business Consultants to support aspiring entrepreneurs in handling the complexities of starting a business or investing in a franchise. With the guidance of her brother, Tushar Patel, and mentorship from Makayla Seger and Scott Johnson, the firm has developed a personalized consulting method.
Dr. Patel’s educational background in accounting and business management, with her entrepreneurial experience, allows her to provide clients with access to over 600 franchise opportunities.
“We confirm that clients are fully prepared—not just to buy a business, but to grow it. Our commitment is to guide them from the initial consultation through post-purchase, certifying their success,” Dr. Dimple Patel adds.
IPPY Dippy: Innovating Professional Development for Educators
In collaboration with Seamus O’Hara and Charlie Rosenbury, Dr. Patel co-founded IPPY Dippy, a platform that certifies teachers’ engagement with educational media, turning everyday learning into professional development hours.
Created to address barriers to professional growth, IPPY Dippy’s mission is to support educators by validating continuous learning, from YouTube videos to podcasts and articles.
“With IPPY Dippy, we’re giving teachers a way to codify their learning and advance their careers,” Dr. Patel explains. “This outlook helps them improve their practice and personal lives.”
KGS Foundation Service For All: A Legacy of Giving
Named in honor of Kishan Gopal Somani, former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, KGS Foundation Service For All reflects Dr. Dimple Patel’s commitment to social impact. Her close bond with Mr. Somani inspired her to create a foundation that provides food and education support to marginalized communities.
Through initiatives like the annual STEM Table Event, the KGS Foundation Service brings businesses and educators together to provide hands-on STEM experiences for children, sparking curiosity and a love for learning. In addition to organizing food drives and community outreach, the foundation is expanding its reach with new literacy programs planned for Uttarakhand, India, and rural Colorado schools.
“Every dollar we raise goes toward helping others,” Dr. Patel emphasizes. “Giving back is at the heart of everything we stand for.”
