His career culminated in his role as vice chairman of Fred Alger Management, a $25 billion privately owned investment management and mutual fund firm, from which he retired in 2010.

He pursued a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Illinois and later completed a PhD from the City University of New York. His academic pursuits extended to authorship, with works such as “The Practice of Planning: Strategic, Administrative and Operational” and “The Strategic Planning Process.”
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Pfeister is a devoted father to two sons, Jo and John.
