After earning a Bachelor of Science in forestry from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1969, Mr. Pfeister embarked on a diverse career path that ultimately led him to the pinnacle of financial management. His career culminated in his role as vice chairman of Fred Alger Management, a $25 billion privately owned investment management and mutual fund firm, from which he retired in 2010.

“Building a substantial investment management firm for Fred Alger is undoubtedly my greatest professional achievement,” Mr. Pfeister reflects. “It was a challenging and rewarding experience that allowed me to apply all the skills and knowledge I had accumulated throughout my career.”

Parallel to his professional success, Mr. Pfeister made significant contributions to his community. Mr. Pfeister founded and built a thriving Boy Scout troop in Bronxville, nurturing many young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

“My involvement with the Boy Scouts has been deeply fulfilling,” Mr. Pfeister remarks. “As an Eagle Scout myself, I understand the profound impact this achievement can have on a young person’s life. I’m immensely proud of the troop we built and the numerous Eagle Scouts we produced.”

A Life of Personal and Professional Growth

Throughout his career, Mr. Pfeister demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning. He pursued a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Illinois and later completed a PhD from the City University of New York. His academic pursuits extended to authorship, with works such as “The Practice of Planning: Strategic, Administrative and Operational” and “The Strategic Planning Process.”

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Pfeister is a devoted father to two sons, Jo and John.

“Family and personal relationships are as important as professional success,” Mr. Pfeister shared. “I’m blessed with two wonderful sons and a partner who brings joy to my life every day.”
