Sandy Liu has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who, joining an elite roster of individuals recognized for their significant contributions and prominence in their respective fields.
“Throughout my life, I’ve often struggled with feeling like I never belonged, whether at school, home or work,“ said Ms. Liu. “After therapy, I realized I had spent years trying to make others happy at the expense of my own mental health. Learning to say ‘no’ and prioritizing my own needs became essential to my personal growth.“
As board treasurer and incoming president for the year 2026 of the Forest Hills Asian Association, Ms. Liu brings extensive financial expertise honed during a career spanning more than 17 years at the Federal Reserve Bank, where she progressed from senior programmer analyst to senior business analyst. Since 2012, she has served as a partner at Hwa Yuan LLC, applying her analytical skills to business strategy and operations.
Ms. Liu’s dedication to community service is not limited to her professional roles. She has served as a troop co-leader for the Girl Scouts of Greater New York since 2019, mentoring young women and fostering leadership skills. She also demonstrated her commitment to personal development during her tenure as president of Toastmasters International from 2009 to 2010.
Ms. Liu accomplished one of her most notable achievements by organizing an event that featured an Asian musician known as Eyeglasses at the historic Forest Hills Stadium. After the artist suffered a traumatic attack while performing in the subway, Ms. Liu personally reached out to him.
“When I heard about what happened to Eyeglasses, I felt compelled to act,“ Ms. Liu explained. “Providing him with a platform at our event wasn’t just about showcasing his talent – it was about standing together as a community against adversity and celebrating our resilience.“
Ms. Liu credits her success to her grit, a quality recognized early when elementary school classmates voted her “Most Ambitious.” Her resolve has enabled her to achieve academically, earning a BS in Information Systems and International Business from NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and certification in Area, Ethnic, Cultural, Gender and Group Studies from Guangzhou University.
“My ambition has always been to create meaningful change,” Ms. Liu noted. “In five years, I hope to be actively fighting climate change by building a platform that raises awareness and drives action. As wildfires become more common, I feel an urgency to address environmental issues through community engagement.“
When not engaged in professional or civic responsibilities, Ms. Liu finds balance through spending time in nature, a passion that provides respite from her busy schedule and connects her to the environmental causes she champions.
