Transforming Warehousing in Georgia and Beyond

Libo Group, one of the leading distribution and marketing companies in Georgia, has been operating since 2003 with the explicit goal of simplifying the relationship between companies and customers.

Libo Group actively collaborates with leading brands and operates five branches in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Gori, Batumi, and Telavi. The company covers the entire territory of Georgia, serving over 8,000 sales points and employing about 300 people. Despite all this, Libo Group remains proactive and is not resting on its laurels.

The company engages in various activities both in Georgia and abroad, with a significant focus on real estate, including commercial and warehouse spaces. That is why Libo Group introduced a new product named WELT, the details of which Forbes Georgia discussed with the company’s founder, Otar Badagadze.

WHAT IS WELT?

WELT is a project that brings modern Class A warehouses to the market. The new warehouse is in Sanzona, Tbilisi, covering a total area of 15,000m².

According to Otar Badagadze, the project comprises three stages with an investment value of approximately 35 million lari. The first phase has already been completed; the second and third phases are set to be completed by the end of the year and in the second quarter of 2024, respectively.

WELT LOGISTICS AND WAREHOUSING OFFER A RANGE OF SERVICES, INCLUDING:

  • Leasing of warehouse space;
  • Leasing of warehouse space with maintenance services;
  • Leasing of warehouse space, technical and software services;
  • 3PL and 4PL services, involving receiving products in the warehouse and delivering them to end users.

“This is an emerging service with great potential, as many untapped opportunities exist. Our main goal is to offer the market a complete warehouse logistics chain, ultimately culminating in customer satisfaction.

We will implement the project through the optimization of processes and costs using the WMS software, which is aimed at simplifying operations and accounting. The warehouse space is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure, mobile equipment, and, most importantly, security is taken care of in every way,” the company’s founder tells us.

In addition to introducing new services, Libo Group is actively taking on individual environmental responsibility, recognizing the significance of this commitment in the context of modern energy transition. The company plans to invest in solar panels to generate the energy the warehouse consumes.

The company’s ambitions extend beyond the Georgian market. Badagadze states, “Within the framework of the seven-year project, WELT will enter the markets of Armenia and Uzbekistan with the mentioned services. These countries are attractive for our business model due to the developing stage of similar services, rapid economic growth, and market demand. Negotiations for the purchase of territory in these countries have already commenced.”

It must be mentioned that Libo Group already has a successful history in Armenia, having started operations three years ago with two branches in Yerevan and Gumri. Employing around 100 people, they serve about 6,000 points of sale.

The company’s expansion plans include Armenia, Uzbekistan, the Baltics, and Poland. Negotiations with local partners for purchasing and developing existing infrastructure are underway.

Ultimately, the company envisions investing $100 million in 100,000m² Class A warehouses across Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, the Baltics, and Poland. Their singular goal is continuous, rapid progress, expansion, and the transformation of warehousing services.
