Cargo Turnover Still Diminishing Within The Georgian Corridor

Last year, the volume of cargo shipped by transport sector diminished by 800 000 tons more and made 41,1 mln tons. The volume of cargo handled in sea ports and terminals made 16,3 mln tons, which is an amount decreased by 1,3 mln tons.

The number of containers handled in sea ports amounted to 394 787 TEU units, which was slightly more than in 2016.

Last year, cargo turnover increased in Poti Port and 6,7 mln tons instead of 6,3 mln tons in 2016. Volume of handled cargo in Batumi sea port decreased from 5,6 mln tons to 4,2 mln tons. Volume of handled cargo also decreased by 0,3 mln tons in Supsa sea port and Kulevi sea terminal retained the rate of 1,6 mln tons.

In Georgia’s transport corridors, cargo turnover has been diminishing for several years in a raw.
