Georgia's income on tourism in 4 months is $ 0.8 billion

In January-April, Georgia earned $ 855.7 million on tourism, which is 8.4% higher than in the same period last year. The highest revenues were recorded in April – $ 277.3 million, which is 16.1% higher than last year.

Income from tourism increases in parallel with the increase of the number of tourists. In 2016 the growth was 9.6%, in 2017 it was 26.8% and in 2018 it was 21%.

However, at the beginning of the year, the amount of money spent by tourists decreased. In particular, according to Geostat, the average cost of the visit decreased by 16.1% compared to the previous year and amounted to 889.7 lari.

Despite the number of tourists in Georgia, in 2012-2017, the amount spent by one tourist in the country increased from $ 318.6 to $ 364.2.

According to this indicator, Georgia lags behind similar economies, where tourists spend $ 500-800 per trip.
