Fuel imports are declining

In January-August 2019, imports of gasoline and diesel fuel to Georgia amounted to 676.8 thousand tons, which is 56.4 thousand tons or 7.7% less than for the same period in 2018.

In January-August 2019, imports of gasoline amounted to 349.1 thousand tons, which is 3.7% less compared to the same period last year. Import of diesel fuel amounted to 327.7 thousand tons, which is 11.6% compared to the same period last year.

According to the data of Union of Oil Importers, for 8 months of this year, the largest volume of gasoline and diesel fuel were imported from:

  • Russia – 197.4 thousand tons, or 29.2% of total imports.

  • Romania: 190.5 thousand tons (28.1%)

  • Azerbaijan – 122.4 thousand tons (18.1%)

  • Turkmenistan – 69.6 thousand tons (10.3%)

  • Bulgaria – 60.3 thousand tons (8.9%)

  • Greece – 35.4 thousand tons (5.2%)
