SOCAR Is Still Interested In Building A Carbamide Plant In Georgia

According to the director of Azerbaijani state oil company carbamide plant, the issue of building a plant in Georgia is still on the agenda.

SOCAR representatives state: “We are still interested in the project and are considering this issue”.

Azerbaijani company SOCAR announced an intention to build carbamide plant in Georgia back in 2012. The plant was supposed to provide production of 700 000 tons of carbamide per year.

However, the Georgian side does not consider construction of carbamide plant in the nearest future – Ministry of Energy explained this by increased consumption of natural gas and noted that the project may be reconsidered in 2019-2020, after Shah-Denise second phase is launched.
