The Volume of Taxes Paid by the Gambling Business in the Budget has Doubled in the Last 5 years

The taxes paid in the State Budget by the gambling business reached 136.5 Million GEL, which is 17 Million GEL more than the amount of taxes of 2017, and 71.6 Million GEL more than the indicator of 2014.

The taxes paid by the gambling businesses in 2018 were distributed as follows:

  • From slot machines – 75 Million GEL; 6.7 Million GEL more than last year

  • From the lotteries  – 5 Million GEL; 2.7 Million GEL more than last year

  • From systematic-electronic gambling – 13.2 Million GEL (2017 Less than 4 Million GEL in 2017)

  • From the casino table – 41.3 Million GEL 12.5 Million GEL more than last year

The taxes paid by the gambling businesses to the budget in the last 5 years:

  • 2018 – 136.5 Million GEL

  • 2017 – 119.5 Million GEL

  • 2016 – 73.3 Million GEL

  • 2015 – 68.9 Million GEL

  • 2014 – 64.9 Million GEL

The increase of the taxes is related to opening new casinos in Georgia. In 2018 in Batumi, there were 10 casinos operating. In the next 5 years five more casinos are to be opened. In 2013-2016 the amount of casino visitors in Batumi increased by 2.3 and reached the total of 680 000 visitors. In 2016 the 76% of the visitors of the casinos in Adjara were foreigners.
