In August, petrol and diesel imports to Georgia came to 107.5 thousand tons, which is 1.5 thousand tons less than July and an increase of 6.5 thousand tons compared to August of 2017. According to the Union of Oil Products Importers, between the period of January-August of this year total imports of petrol and diesel in Georgia came to 733.2 thousand tons, which is 56.1 thousand tons more than the same period of last year.
For August 2018, the top ranking for the country importing the largest volume of petrol and diesel imports went to Russia, importing a total of 31.4 tons, which amounts to 29.2% of the total sum of petrol and diesel imports. This was followed by: Romania – 24.4 thousand tons (22.7%); Turkmenistan – 17.1 thousand tons (15.9%); Bulgaria – 14 thousand tons (13.0%); Azerbaijan – 13.7 thousand tons (12.8%), and Greece – 6.8 thousand tons (6.3%).
The country ranking for the largest volume of petrol and diesel importations during the first 8 months of 2018 lists Russia as the top importer at a total of 191.4 thousand tons, which amounts to 26.1% of the total sum of petrol and diesel imports. This was followed by: Romania – 187.0 thousand tons (25.5%); Turkmenistan – 122.9 thousand tons (16.8%); Azerbaijan – 106.8 thousand tons (14.6%), Bulgaria – 80.3 thousand tons (10.9%); and Greece – 44.6 thousand tons (6.1%).
