The term for introduction in legislation of the regulations on standardized packaging of tobacco products will be delayed, namely: the government of Georgia will have the obligation to approve the rule of standardized packaging of tobacco products to be sold in Georgia and the rule of selling and/or placement of tobacco in standardized packaging before July 1, 2022 instead of July 1, 2017. According to the proposed change, the term for implementation of regulating norms for selling/placement of tobacco products in standardized packaging will be determined as December 31, 2022, instead of January 1, 2018.
The goal of the draft law is to additionally assess fiscal impact of the new regulation before implementation of the regulation on standardized packaging of tobacco products.
