Georgia ranks 45 in the world with the number of foreign visitors

Georgia holds 45th position in the world with the number of international travelers. According to the World Bank, most foreigners visit France and in 2016 their number exceeded 82 million. France is followed by USA, which is visited by more than 77 million foreigners. Spain is in the third place.

According to the World Bank, in 1995 Georgia was visited by only 85 000 foreigners, while in 2016, the number of foreign visitors increased up to 6 361 000.

World Bank notes that in 2016 total number of foreign visitors in the world exceeded 1.2 billion.

The least number of foreigners – under 16 000 – visit Guinea.

In 2017, total income generated through foreign tourism in Georgia made 2.75 bln USD (2,751,279,624), which is 585 mln USD more than in the previous year. In 2017, the share of tourism in total GDP of Georgia made 6.9%.
