Over the period of 7 months of the current year, 3 299 more flights were conducted in Georgian airports than last year. The data looks as follows: total number of passenger and cargo flights – 11 218, of which the number of regular flights is 9 056 and of charters – 2 162. Compared to the number of flights conducted within the same period of last year, the increase is equal to 41.66%.
According to the data provided by the National Agency of Civil Aviation, the indicator for usage of Georgia’s air space has increased by 15.25%. over the 7-month period of 2016, the number of unit flights was 69 863 and within the past months of the current year 80 514 unit flights were registered in Georgia’s air space.
Based on the 7 months data of the current year, the increase was registered also with regard to cargo flights. The volume of cargo transported through air lines made 19 715.983 thousand tons. Which is 4 832.60 thousand tons – 32.47% – more than the amount of cargo transported within the previous year.
As far as the passenger flow is concerned, over the period of 7 months, Tbilisi International Airport served 503 636 passengers more (total of 1 658 366 passengers) than within the same period of last year (total of 1 154 739 passengers). The increase of passenger flow made 43.62%.
In Kutaisi Airport, passenger flow has increased by 86.48%. Over the period of 7 months of this year the airport served 232 775 passengers, while within the same period of last year this figure was equal to 124 826, which is 107 949 passengers less.
During the past months, 233 992 passengers were served by Batumi International Airport, which is 52.32% (80 369 passengers) more than the figure of the same period of last year (153 623).
