Every year the number of payments made via the internet is increasing. Three years ago, in the third quarter of 2015, 3 million internet payments were made, the total value of which comes to 138 million GEL. In the third quarter of 2018 this indicator increased to 11.7 million payments via the internet, coming to a total of 722 million GEL.
Compared to the previous quarter (II), the number of payments made via the internet with Georgian credit cards increased by 11% and the total value of those payments increased by 26%.
Compared to the third quarter of 2017, the amount of payments made via the internet has increased by 154% and the overall value has increased by 183%.
Compared to the previous quarter, the share of internet payments in the overall post-payments increased by 1 percentage point in terms amount used and by 4 percentage points in overall value.
In addition, 65.0 million transactions were made by Georgian cards within and outside of Georgia in the third quarter of this year, amounting to a total of 6.1 billion GEL. 95% of these transactions and 97% of the value was processed within the country, whereas 5% and 3% were made outside of the country respectively.
Compared to the second quarter, the amount of transactions made by cards grew by 3% and the value grew by 5%. The number of cash withdrawals reduced by 4% and increased in value by 2%, but the amount of payment operations increased by 6% and the value increased by 14%.
