In January – July, 2017 the number of international arrivals in Georgia amounted to 3,978,657, showing an increase of 16.8% compared to the same period of previous year. Out of the total number of visits, 1,829,331 lasted longer than 24 hours (+ 30.2%). The majority of foreign travelers were Azerbaijanian (+8.7%), Armenian (+18.3%), Russian (+35.9%), Turkish (-12.9%) and Iranian (+169.5%).
A positive trend in arrivals was also observed among citizens of the European Union countries. A notable increase was registered of Austrian +52%, Dutch +39%, German +32%, British +29% and French +26% travelers. Exceptional growth in arrivals was recorded of citizens of the following countries: Jordan +398%, Lebanon +318%, Saudi Arabia +218%, Kuwait +185%, Iran +170% and Uzbekistan +138%.
During the period of January – July, 149 countries recorded an increase in the number of international arrivals, which in figures amounted to 674,753. Top eleven countries showing increase of more than 6,000 international arrivals registered cumulative increase amounting to 590,862 (88% of total increase).
In July, 2017 the number of international arrivals in Georgia amounted 982,487, representing a 28.5% increase over the same period of 2016. In July, the majority of travelers were citizens of the following countries: Russia (+60.4%), Armenia (+25.4%), Azerbaijan (+13.8%), Turkey (+0.6%) and Iran (+85.8%). Out of the total number of visits, 519,349 lasted longer than 24 hours (increase +32.9%). A positive trend was also maintained of the nationalities of the European Union countries. Notable increase was registered of Dutchman +43%, British +34%, German +33% and French +33% travelers. Exceptional growth in arrivals was recorded of citizens of the following countries: Lebanon +579%, Jordan +373, Saudi Arabia +254, Kuwait +207%, Iran +86% and USA +65%.
During this period, 134 countries recorded an increase in the number of international arrivals, which in total amounted to 219,628. Top eleven countries showing increase of more than 2,000 international arrivals registered cumulative increase amounting to 198,874 (91% of total increase).
