During the last 5 years, the world wine export has decreased by approximately 3,5%, wine export in the world amounted to 31,7 bln USD. The biggest share of wine export is from the EU countries. The ten leading wine-exporting countries are as follows:

1. France – 9,2 bln USD – 28,8% of total export
2. Italy – 6 bln USD – 18,8% of total export
3. Spain – 3 bln USD – 9,3% of total export
4. Chile – 1,8 bln USD – 5,8% of total export
5. Australia – 1,6 bln USD – 5,1% of total export
6. USA – 1,5 bln USD – 4,9% of total export
7. Germany – 1,1 bln USD – 3,4% of total export
8. New Zeeland – 1,1 bln USD – 3,4% of total export
9. Portugal – 817,7 mln USD – 2,6% of total export
10. Argentina – 817,4 mln USD – 2,6% of total export

Since 2011, China has increased wine export more than other countries. Decrease of wine export has been registered from countries like United Kingdom (-27%), Germany (-21,1%) and Australia (-18%).

Georgia is on the 23rd place in the world in terms of wine export. In 2015, wine export from Georgia amounted to 95,8 mln USD and 0,3% of total export. And in 2016 this figure has increased up to 113 mln USD.
