Import of oil products increases

In June 2018, import of petrol and diesel fuel in Georgia made 86,9 thousand tons, which is 13,2 thousand tons less than in May and 1,9 thousand tons more than in June last year.

According to the information provided by the Union of Oil Product Importers, in June, the import of petrol fuel made 48,1 thousand tons (increase by 0,5 thousand tons) and diesel fuel – 38,8 thousand tons (reduction by 18,2 thousand tons).

In total, in the period January-June 2018, the import of oil products (petrol and diesel fuel) in Georgia made 516,8 thousand tons, which is 60 thousand tons more than the rates of the same period last year. Among them:

Over the first 6 months of 2018, import of petrol fuel made 256,7 thousand tons and diesel fuel import – 260,1 thousand tons.

As to the largest oil product importer companies, according to the information provided by GeoStat, following companies imported the biggest volumes of oil products:

•             Vissol Petroleum Georgia

•             Socar Georgia Petroleum

•             Rompetrol Georgia

•             Lukoil Georgia

•             Sun Petroleum Georgia

By countries, in June 2018, the biggest volume of petrol and diesel fuel was imported from Turkmenistan – 21,1 thousand tons, which makes 24,3% of total import, followed by Romania – 19,2 thousand tons (22,1%);   Bulgaria – 17,9 thousand tons (20,6%); Russia – 16,6 thousand tons (19,1%), Azerbaijan – 6,3 thousand tons (7,2%), Greece – 5,8 thousand tons (6,7%);

By countries, in the first 6 months of 2018, the biggest volume of petrol and diesel fuel was imported from Russia – 143,6 thousand tons, which makes 27,8% of total import, followed by: Romania – 128,3 thousand tons (24,8%);   Turkmenistan – 91,8 thousand tons (17,8%); Azerbaijan – 73,7 thousand tons (14,3%), Bulgaria – 51,1 thousand tons (9,9%); Greece – 28,2 thousand tons (5,4%).
